The Disability Tax Credit
The Disability Tax Credit (DTC) is a valuable tax credit available to individuals living with a disability. The DTC helps reduce the amount of tax an individual or their caregiver will have to pay and opens the door to other valuable credits and programs.
To apply you must complete the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) form T2201. Access the T2201 Form here.
Canada Disability Child Benefit
The child disability benefit (CDB) is a tax-free monthly payment made to families who care for a child under age 18 with a severe and prolonged impairment in physical or mental functions. To be eligible you must qualify for the Canada Child Benefit and the Disability Tax Credit.

The RDSP
The RDSP is unique to Canada and is widely considered the most important financial planning tool available for anyone concerned about the longterm financial wellbeing of a person with a disability. There is no cost to open an RDSP, and the financial benefits begin right away. With an RDSP you may be eligible for up to $90,000 of government grants and bonds.

Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities
If you are a parent caring for a child with a severe disability, you may be able to receive financial support through the Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities Program. This program provides financial support for low- to moderate-income families to cover some of the extra costs of caring for a child who has a severe disability.

Special Services at Home
Families who are caring for a child with a developmental and/or physical disability can apply to the special services at home program to get funding for primary caregiver relief and related supports or for activities of personal growth or development including camps and recreational activities, like swimming and music classes.
