3 TIPS TO TAKE ACTION AFTER THE WEBCAST

  1. Start a journal to monitor changes in your child's behaviour and routines. Check here for more info about what to watch for: Recognizing your child needs help - Family Care Centre.
  2. Seek help by talking to your family doctor or pediatrician, or contacting local child and youth mental health services. Visit Find Help - Children's Mental Health Ontario for more info. Bring notes and a supportive family member or friend.
  3. Consider connecting with other parents who share your concerns and ‘get it’. You can find peer support options here: Peer Support - Family Care Centre.

Family
Care Centres have been developed with evidence-based, clinician and subject matter topics that have been identified as most important to families. Resources in Family Care Centres get updated regularly, so it’s a good idea to check in often.

Recognizing Your Child Needs Help - Family Care Centre
Read this guide when you are wondering or unsure if your child or youth needs further support or if you are questioning if there could be mental health concerns going on.

Find Help - Children's Mental Health Ontario
This link will take you to a tool that can search for your local child and youth mental health services and the tool covers the province of Ontario.

Peer Support - Family Care Centre
C
onnecting with other parents who understand your experiences is incredibly valuable. Check out the Peer Support section of the Family Care Centre to find out where groups are meeting in your area. If you can’t find a local group that works, join virtually with other groups at times that better suit your schedule. Additionally, a team of peer supporters is available for one-on-one virtual connections, regardless of where you live in the province.

One Stop Talk
This service
is available for children and youth aged 0 to 17. Parents or caregivers are welcome to call alongside their child or youth. When you call, you will be connected immediately to a professional therapist from a network of community-based mental health agencies that support children, youth, and families across Ontario. One Stop Talk is available Monday to Friday from 12 pm-8 pm EST and Saturdays from 12 pm-4 pm EST.
