About Us:
Partners for Planning is a national non-profit and charitable organization that supports people with developmental disabilities and their families to be proactive in planning for the future. P4P was founded in 2009 by families and for families, to help answer the question, “Who will love and protect our family members when we no longer can?” Our vision is that people with developmental disabilities participate as full citizens and have the opportunity to build inclusive, meaningful lives firmly rooted in community.

What We’re Looking For:
The Board of Directors of Partners for Planning is looking for committed individuals from around the province of Ontario who share our values and are committed to supporting people with disabilities and their families to break down the barriers to live an inclusive life. Qualified candidates will bring diverse perspectives shaped by their personal and professional experiences and will come from outside the Greater Toronto Area.

Legal/Compliance Expertise: Legal experience in defining corporate policies, mitigating risks, and guiding informed decision making.

Financial Oversight: Expertise in business and finance to help guide our strategic decisions and ensure financial sustainability.

Fundraising: Knowledge of philanthropic fundraising strategies, relationship building, and donor engagement.

Senior Leadership: Experience in executive or senior level roles with an understanding of strategic planning, governance, and corporate insight.

Entrepreneurial Lens: Individuals with an innovative mindset, who are committed to continuous learning, and have a proven track record of building or scaling organizations or initiatives.

Innovative Thinkers: Creative minds to help tackle complex social challenges
Roles and Responsibilities:
Board Members will play a key role in setting strategy, providing governance and oversight, and working with the Executive Director to drive real impact. As a Board member, this is your chance to influence change, collaborate with a committed team, and enjoy the process of doing work that matters. You will bring your unique perspective and experiences to the Board table and help lead the organization forward by committing to and advancing P4P’s mission, vision and goals.
Time Commitment: Four to six hours per month (meetings, preparation, consultation)
Board Member Terms: Board members serve three-year terms
Meetings: Participate in virtual meetings 6 to 8 times a year, with at least one in-person meeting in the Toronto area per year
