HOMING IN ON NEW SOLUTIONS

In Ontario 12,000 adults with developmental disabilities are in need of housing.

Given the tremendous demand for and lack of housing options available for individuals living with a developmental disability, creating appropriate and affordable housing solutions has become top priority. In 2015, the Developmental Services Housing Task Force was launched and issued a call for innovative housing proposals from across the province.

Big change is on the way. Looking to community first, families, advocates, agencies and people living with disabilities are now joining forces to create innovative solutions. Personalized funding, independent facilitation and supportive networks are at the forefront of each new innovation, as are collaborative planning and creative partnerships.

P4P is pleased to provide this plain language overview of 18 new housing projects presently underway with the Housing Task Force, each of which reflect and motivate new possibilities for change across the province.
